Sony Ericsson launched the С902 to meet the needs of the customers looking for a good camera with the shutter blind (absent in Sony Ericsson K850i) and compact size. The company planned it as a niche product - a photo solution with fashion accent. However the partners felt so enthusiastic about it that Sony Ericsson decided to lower the price to make it a mass solution.
